Paul Stein of West Point was recently elected as Chairman of the Calaveras Council of Governments (CCOG) for the second consecutive year. CCOG is the Regional Transportation Planning Agency for Calaveras County and regionally collaborates with Cal-Trans to deliver state transportation projects that affect the Mother Lode region. This is Paul’s 12th year on the CCOG Board. He has served as Chairman in eight of those years having been an original signatory to creating CCOG in 1998 while serving as a District 2 Supervisor in Calaveras County.
“Because of Paul’s vast experience on CCOG, and because he runs such a professional open meeting with very little controversy, I again nominate Paul as Chairman for 2014,” said Elaine Morris, Mayor of Angels Camp and Vice Chairman of CCOG. “We have several critical transportation projects on the horizon, and I believe Paul’s expertise and political contacts in Sacramento will be essential to moving these projects forward. We are fortunate to have his experience for another year,” concluded Morris in making her motion.
The CCOG Board unanimously elected Stein as Chairman, and Mayor Elaine Morris was once again elected as Vice Chairman of CCOG for 2014.
